Strawberries and Cream Cashew Milk- Ft. Ellie's Best

If you know me at all you know I love cashew milk! Hence my Cashew Cardamom Coffee Creamer! When I received my Ellie's Best Nut Milk bag I was jumping for joy because I am always looking for dairy free milk options! As I was jumping around like a complete maniac the cutest little recipe pamphlet landed on the floor... the first thing I saw was a Strawberry Cashew Milk recipe! I was instantly hooked and had to make my own version of this!

First of all this milk bag is perfection! Not only are they BPA free but they are so easy to use and clean! If you have ever made nut milk before then you know how annoying it can be to have to filter your nut milk after you have strained it through the bag! Well guess what... I didn't have to do that with this bag! We're sold! Nothing more needs to be said! Jk, one other small (HUGE) thing that I must mention is that you can juice fruits and veggies with this bag and even make cold brew.. you know, just a small detail! More to come on the juicing and cold brew when I try it!

But for now onto the Strawberries and Cream Cashew Milk recipe. I am not even kidding when I say that this tastes just like a strawberry milkshake. Like I am totally blending it with ice the next time I make it and having it for dessert! It is so thick and luscious! I drank it on its own one day for breakfast. The next day I mixed it into my oatmeal and it was heaven!

I am posting this recipe below but do yourself a favor and go check out their blog! They have the best recipes on there! Like Pina Colada Smoothies, Hemp Milk and Cacao Ballz, and Pumpkin Spice Coconut Oil Sugar Scrub! Need I say more. Ok I will... You can get their recipe book for free! Yep they will send it to you! Go check out their website now!

Strawberries and Cream Cashew Milk

Blend all top 5 ingredients together in your food processor for 2 minutes and then filter it through your @elliesbest Nut Milk Bag into a medium bowl.

Skincare Q&A w/ Kelly Gambino

I am so excited to introduce you guys to the babe of all babes! Kelly Gambino of Melted Brow Bar & Skincare , is a friend of mine and skincare guru! I would seriously trust anything she said if I thought it would make my skin glow like hers! This girl knows her stuff and that is why I knew I had to borrow some of her knowledge and share!

What are you top 3 skin care tips?

The main things I ALWAYS recommend is to just cleanse at night and not in the morning. Your skin needs those natural oils, so over cleansing can strip your skin. Exfoliate 2x a week with a good scrub that IS NOT meant to be used everyday. And Moisturize as often as needed (Even if you have oily skin). And get a treatment such as chemical peel, facial, or Microderm once a month for a deep cleansing!

What is the number one skincare mistake that people make?

I get people who say their skin is super oily so they don't moisturize which in turn their skin is overcompensating oil because of the lack of moisture they put on their skin. And most people with really dry skin don't exfoliate so they're skin has created a barrier of dead skin which isn't allowing any moisture to get in.

What is the secret to a thick and full brow?

Throw away the tweezers! Haha!
Castor oil works wonders on growing Brows, and a good Brow Tint and Wax 😉

What is the number one skin care product you are obsessed with right now?

Definitely Rhonda Allisons Brightening Scrub. I talk a lot about scrubs, but they're really the key to glowing skin!

How often should people be getting a facial?

Once of month!

What are some at home skin care tips that everyone should be doing?

Like I said earlier, Cleanse nightly, scrub 2x a week, and moisturize!

What is the best at home brow tint?

Honestly, I don't know any. I would be very cautious of using any. Leave it to the pros! It's inexpensive and only needs to be done once a month!

What are your thoughts on putting coconut oil on your face?

I love coconut oil, I love coconut anything! Haha. I've used it on my face and broke out, but I have clients who use it as their moisturizer and absolutely love it! It doesn't hurt to try, everyone's skin reacts differently.

What are your thoughts on microblading?

It's the new hot thing and it can be amazing if you really do your research on who to go to! The good thing about it is it isn't permanent. It lasts a few years which is good because brow shape trends are always changing!

For all of the best brow and skin care inspo go follow @meltedbrowbar on Instagram and if you live any where near Albuquerque, New Mexico call Kelly and make an appointment!

Sunday Stuff #3

Ohhh Sunday... I have such a love hate relationship with you! I love the underlying feel that there are no expectations on Sundays and hate the anxiety provoking thought that Monday is only hours away.

Today I am hydrating and just taking a day to focus on restarting. It has been a birthday filled weekend! My dad, my boyfriend, and my best friend all had birthdays. So you know we were celebrating with bubbles and cupcakes all weekend long! It has left me feeling like a puffer fish! So I am drinking a gallon of H20 and doing like 16 face masks!

Take a minute to enjoy these...

Drunk Jelly- this is the key to the perfect PB& Rosé J! I'm literally obsessed with this company and am thinking of every single excuse to make a charcuterie board so I can add this to it! Oh and guess what... I am giving away a jar of their cabernet jelly over on my Instagram! Go enter!

Jessica Alba, could you possibly be more perfect! Lets all take a page or two out of her book (or interview in Shape Magazine) and focus on what makes each other beautiful! Thank you for this!

Learning to maintain adult relationships is hard. The day that I learned that friendships are not unlike your relationship with you significant other and that they take work too was an awe shocking one! This article highlights the some of the real life emotions that come along with those cherished friendships!

Flower dyed napkins! Are you kidding! This speaks to my soul! You know you will be seeing this on my blog soon!

I'm off to chug my lemon water!

Gift Giving 101

I love giving gifts! Like it is one of my favorite things to do... I make mental notes all year long and save lists of ideas for the people that I want to give gifts to! I hear "you are so good at giving gifts" a lot and so I thought it would be fun to share my tips and tricks with you guys!

First of all I keep amazon lists and secret Pinterest boards labeled with peoples names and I save items to them as they pop up. Then when someones B-day arrives you just pull up your board or list and you are all set to go! Pay attention to little comments that people make. If they compliment you on something make a mental note and pick up that item to gift to them! For example if someone compliments my nail color I will be sure to pick it up for them the next time I am out and about!

It is all about the details for me. Presentation is everything. I always make sure that gifts are wrapped in cute paper or bag with ribbon and a bow! Again, I plan ahead and pick up cute paper all of the time. For example, I have a friend that loves flamingos... while I was at TJ Maxx the other day they had the cutest flamingo paper so I picked it up and will save it until the next time that I give her a gift. Make it personal! It's the details that people remember most.

Another fun thing that I do is I like to add a mini bottle of champagne with a cute paper straw tied to the side as a little addition. Nothing says CELEBRATION like a bottle of champagne!

One last tip.. I always put confetti inside of my cards. Then when they open them its like a little party! The confetti drops out and is a total surprise! I have never had someone open their card and not smile when the confetti falls out. Make sure the note inside of the card is heart felt not generic. Words mean more than materialistic items so this is what really counts!

Now go make your lists and start gifting! Don't forget to stock up on mini champagne bottles and confetti!

Coconut Rose "Nice Cream"

I love a fun treat in the summer! And it is even better when it is guilt free like this coconut rose "nice cream". Ice cream is a favorite of mine but just like basically every person I know, I have to be very careful with dairy! It really upsets my stomach. That is why I have been trying some fun takes on this dairy free frozen treat.

Coconut is my go to and I decided to make this recipe even more boujee by adding dried rose petals! I mean why not!? I have been incorporating these rose petals in everything! My floral facial steam, sparkling rose water, I even buy the most delicious lavender and rose chocolate! I could go on and on but I will get to the point here-

Coconut Rose "Nice Cream"-

2 Cans Full Fat Coconut Milk
2 Cups Frozen Bananas
1/8 Cup Pure Maple Syrup
1/4 Cup Shredded Coconut
Dried Rose Petals

Place all ingredients into blender and process until creamy smooth. Chill in fridge. Process according to the instructions of your ice cream maker. Serve immediately as more of a soft serve ice cream OR freeze for 1-2 hours to firm up a bit. Sprinkle the rose petals on top before serving!

I love having this on hand at all times in the summer. It is so impressive when you pull this out of the freezer for guests. You don't have to top it with rose petals. You could really use anything.. pineapple (or any fruit), chocolate chips, cashews, you name it. Get creative!

Cashew Cardamom Coffee Creamer- Dairy Free

There is nothing that I love more than a hot cup of coffee the second I wake up! I have tried so hard to find a healthy pairing to go with it. Insert Cashew Cardamom Coffee Creamer! Finding a healthy creamer has been a serious struggle! I am sure you all know by now that most store bought creamers are full of junk!

Some alternatives aren't too bad. I will link a couple of my go to's if I am in a pinch and cant make this Cashew Cardamom Creamer but to be honest, nothing compares! It is simply the best!

Nutpods- I like these when I am in a pinch. I discovered them when I was doing Whole30 and they were a lifesaver during that time. I wish the consistency was thicker. I like my creamer creamy!

Califia Farms- This is my number one store bought creamer. They have multiple different flavors (I like the vanilla) that have a pretty low sugar content. They also have one that has no sugar! Love! And let me tell you, this one is creamy and frothy and delicious!

But, skip the store bought and make this if you can! You wont be disappointed!

Cashew Cardamom Coffee Creamer-

1 cup cashews
1 cup coconut milk
2 tspns cardamom
2 tspns vanilla bean paste
1 date

Soak your cashews in water overnight. Rinse them in the morning and put them in the blender with all other ingredients. Blend them all up. Leave it thick! The thicker the better in your coffee. If it is too thick for your taste you can add a little water while blending.

This creamer is such a treat! I mean I could drink it on its own its that good! I add it to my oatmeal sometimes and it makes it so thick and delicious! You can thank me later!

DIY Coconut Lime Lip Scrub

Summer is in full effect and my skin is feeling it! I bathe in sunscreen, chug water, and drench myself in coconut oil but this time of year my skin needs some extra love! This includes my lips!

I literally feel like my lips are looking like the Sahara Desert these days. I am so careful about shielding my skin from the sun but sometimes I forget about my lips! This is a real problem! It is my goal to focus on protecting my lips and adding them into my skin care routine. I am starting with this decadent coconut lime lip scrub!

Coconut Lime Lip Scrub-

Coconut Oil
Lime Essential Oil

Fill a small jar with sugar. Dump the sugar into a bowl. Add about 2 teaspoons of coconut oil- depending on how much sugar you used you may need more. Add two to three drops of lime essential oils. Mix well! I found it easier to use my hands. Store in a cool dry place.

I love using this at night right before bed. I will rub this all over my lips to exfoliate them and then let it sit on my lips while I do the rest of my routine. Then I rinse it off and slather my lips with a night time chapstick. When I wake up in the morning my lips feel so hydrated and plump!

I am always looking for healthy on the go snacks that I can toss in my bag and take to work with me. These have been my go to lately. I love having a handful in the afternoon. The cinnamon and cayenne combo tricks your tastebuds into thinking you are really indulging when in reality its just a chickpea!

Crispy Cinnamon Cayenne Chickpeas-

1 Can chickpeas
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon honey
A sprinkle of cinnamon
A sprinkle (or two) of cayenne

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Drain and rinse the chickpeas then let them dry on a paper towel. Place on a lined baking sheet and cook for 1 hour. Toss in bowl with olive oil and honey. Put back on baking sheet and sprinkle cinnamon and cayenne. Bake for 10 minutes.
