Friday Feature- The Nutrition Addiction

I am so excited to introduce you guys to this F word and avocado loving babe! Megan the creator of The Nutrition Addiction will soon be your go to girl for all things wellness! On her blog she is sharing everything from kitchen hacks and amazon obsessions to skinny cocktails! She is a total bombshell and keeps us all in check when it comes to making healthy choices. Trust me when I say that you need her in your life! 

1. What inspired you to start a blog?

I always used to get asked constantly about what I ate, how I ate, what's healthy, what's not....and whenever I talked to people the common theme seemed to be that eating healthy was so complicated, such a foreign concept, took SO MUCH TIME, and had to involve kale. And I would be like, "guys!! I don't even like to cook!! I swear you can do this!!" So, when I very first started The Nutrition Addiction, it was all about how you can be totally hooked on eating well and living a healthy life without a whole lot of effort. My tagline was originally "recipes for people who hate to cook." It's grown and evolved, but that's where it started!

2. What motivates you to continue blogging? 

The NA community! This message of living a healthy lifestyle without a whole lot of effort is something that has really resonated with a lot of people and the support is my reason for getting up in the morning. Even though I make most of my living through nutrition coaching, my heart is in writing and spreading my message to a much wider audience through the blog. 

3. What is something as a blogger that has helped you grow your brand and blog? 

Well, being consistent with posting certainly goes a long way. But being authentic is #1. I never, ever hold back and I'm not afraid to shout out my weaknesses and vulnerabilities (well, maybe I'm afraid sometimes, but I just do it anyway). When you meet me in person, nothing about me will surprise you - HA. And people can just sense that, ya know? Also paying very close attention to what my readers want from NA. One day I randomly started posting about my obsession with oils, and I found that people are just as interested in my beauty hacks as they are my nutrition advice. So, it was time to evolve!

5. Tell us what a day in the life of The Nutrition Addiction looks like? 

I get up around 10 or 11. I'm a night owl and I NEED my 8 hours! I make Protein Coffee, chug a ton of water, catch up on Instagram and email, write for an hour or two, have lunch, then I'll go to the gym or do a F*ck Diets Project Workout (this is a boot camp that Kendalle Gidion and I run together) in my back yard. Then, I'll just start checking items off my list - that might be shooting photos, working on meal plans, meeting with my nutrition coaching clients, working on something for F*ck Diets, or working on another various project that I might have going on. I usually work until about 1 or 2 AM, then it's in bed either with a book or Netflix until I fall asleep. One or two nights/week is reserved for date night or cocktails w my girlfriends, and I'm totally known to pop my laptop up at a bar somewhere and work alone w a glass of wine. 

6. Summer is quickly approaching, where will we find you on a Saturday afternoon? 

I actually bartend at night on the weekends, so on a Saturday afternoon....I'm usually just relaxing! And probably doing a little blogging or catching up on work or grabbing brunch with my husband. Sunday is my Saturday, usually, and you can find me at a pool or on a patio somewhere. Or....just snuggling under the covers with my two pups, Reginald and Winifred. 

7. What is one wellness tip you are obsessed with right now? 

COLLAGEN! I've taken it for about a year and I've seen crazy results in my skin, hair, and nails. It's so good for your gut health, too. I'm even starting a collagen challenge group on Insta because I want everyone to start using it! It's sooooo good for you! 

8. What are two of your go-to meals?

Ground turkey - rice - broccoli - avocado - lemon and lime  (eaten as a bowl!)
Scrambled eggs with a little rotisserie chicken over a Gluten-free English muffin spread with cream cheese 
I eat both of these meals ALL the time. 

And I should mention too, because I probably eat this every single day, that my favorite snack is gluten free pretzels (GF pretzels are WAY better than regular...seriously!) with Yogurt Ranch Dip

Megan and I decided this post would not be complete without one of her skinny cocktail recipes and this one is just to die for! 

A super fresh, subtly sweet margarita with NO added sugar, but with all the delicious flavors of a traditional margarita.
Recipe type: Drinks, Alcoholic Drinks
Serves: 1
  • 2 oz silver 100% agave margarita
  • ¾ oz orange liqueur (recommended: Cointreau)
  • 1½ oz freshly squeeze grapefruit juice
  • pinch of salt
  • splash of club soda - optional
  1. Pour margarita, kosher or sea salt onto a plate. Rub a glass rim with grapefruit juice, then set it rim side down on the salt. Fill glass with ice.
  2. Fill a shaker with ice. Add tequila, orange liqueur, grapefruit juice and salt.
  3. Shake vigorously, and strain over ice. Add a splash (no more than 1-2 Tbsp) of club soda and serve with grapefruit slices.
If you like a little fizz in your drinks, add a splash of club soda. But just a splash - you don't want to dilute the drink.
